Rob's Top Movies of the decade 2010 – 2019 (Blockbusters).

It is really difficult to write a definitive “Top ten” list of movies there are so many great movies made and so many that I have not watched these are movies that I would recommend if someone asked for a movie. I will do a top female directed list as this one is lacking women and but I don’t want to include Wonder Woman on this list and some of the better movies directed on movies deserve to be recognised for their actual list not defined by 2010 – 2019. I will also indie movies list soon and a top superhero movie soon. As there will obviously be movies on this list that people don’t think should be on this list or movies that people think should be on the list.

Mad Max: Fury Road (2015)

George Miller‘s Mad Max starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron left a serious impression on me when I left the cinema. At that time when I watched the movie I was was at a point debating between experiencing movies at home or in the cinema. Mad Max cut across to me the understanding that there is a certain pleasure derived from watching a movie at a cinema. Mad Max: Fury Road was such a treat cinematically, visually and thematically I highly recommend this movie.

Live Die Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow (2014)

Not a massive Tom Cruise fan however, this movie was a surprising hit for me and it was also directed by Doug Liman. I loved the concept (I am a sucker for time travel type movies ( sorry Looper won’t be appearing on this list) Edge of Tomorrow was a really fun movie to watch and it was great to see Tom Cruise do some of his best acting with Emily Blunt.

The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

While The Dark Knight Rises was not the best of the trio in the Christoper Nolan’s Batman. It was such a powerful superhero film that has shaped that genre will be the only superhero film that’ll be in this list.

John Wick (2014)

John Wick played by Keanu Reeves and directed by Chad Stahelski was a fantastic action movie. While there are plenty of action movies to choose from not all of them are great. John Wick much like Taken is a fun movie to watch and I always recommend it.

Django Unchained (2012)

I couldn’t do a movie list and not include Quentin Tarantino, it could be argued that Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019), or, The Hateful Eight (2015) are better movies in one form or another, however, my criteria are recommendations from the years 2010 – 2019 and if someone had not watched a Tarantino movie before these year I would suggest Django Unchained.

Captain Phillips (2013)

I am including Captain Phillips on this list for the simple fact it had me on the edge of my seat when I watched it. I genuinely was not expecting to be moved. The acting was great, visually stunning, I felt like I was on-board the boat. Tom Hanks was an amazing but so was Barkhad Abdi whose acting really made the movie. This is a must see movie.

Hereditary (2018)

Arguably not a blockbuster movie however, I did enjoy Ari Aster approach to the supernatural horror film genre and I do recommend this movie to people.
