A question I’m always wondered how do you stay on top of the news.  Like most things it takes time to stay on top of current affairs. So here are some of the ways I like to stay on top of the news:

1). Specialize –  There is always going to be an area of current affairs and news that you are interested in.  Read it, learn from it, stay on top of it.  And most importantly enjoy it.

2).  Set up an email account that you are going to check everyday.  Start subscribing to news websites: The guardian, the times.  Follow websites that you are interested  in.  As a journalist ( I enjoy the academic side of journalism) I follow blogs around the area that I am interested in such as: niemanlab, politico.com, cjr.org.
